| Tabv Asiae Minoris. 1522/25 Ptolemy / Laurent Fries Map of Asia Minor with Cyprus in full original colour. A very few small wormholes, otherwise in very fine condition. The Carpas Peninsula is pointing westwards. Size 38 x26 cms. This very rare map of Asia Minor and Cyprus is unusual in that it is in full original hand colour. The map is from the 1525 edition of Laurent Fries’ Clavdii Ptolemaei Geographicae. Fries is perhaps best known for his re-workings of Martin Waldseemuller’s maps of America and the World. His important folio edition of Ptolemy first appeared in 1522 and contained both modern and Ptolemaic maps of all parts of the world. My earliest map showing Cyprus in stock. Price: CyP. 1450.00 |
