NOVUM TESTAMENTUM IN GREEK AND LATIN 1740.
Novum Testamentum Domini Nostri ex Graeco in
Latinum ad Literam versum et subjecta qudruplici editione vulgata in
usum theologiae candidatorum accuratum, Pars I, Quator Jesu Christ
Evangelia continens, Viennae Austriae, Anno a partu Virginis, 1740,
Typis, Leopoldi Joannis Kaliwoda, Imperial Typograph.
The book consists of different parts. First
part is written completely in Latin and is not paginated (in total 4
pages). The second part starts with "Sancti Jesu Christ evangelii
Latina ad literam versio, secundum Matthaeum. This part is written in
Latin with below every single line the Greek translation. This part
contains a total of 120 numbered pages. The third part starts with
"Secundum Marcum sanctum evangelium. Again first the Latin text and
then the Greek translation. This part contains 80 pages. The fourth part
starts with "Secundum Lucam sanctum evangelium". Again first
the Latin text and then the Greek translation. This part contains 134
numbered pages. The fifth part starts with "Secundum Joannem sactum
evangelium", again the Latin and Greek texts. It contains 98 pages.
The book starts with a beautiful, I believe, copper engraving which
depicts a biblical scenery. At the very end of the book there is also a
very nice copper engraving of the TERRA SANCTA (Holy Land). The book is
bound in full brown 18th century leather. The book's back is partly at
the top and at the bottom damaged but the title of the book is still
clearly visible. The book has some yellow spotting but the overall
condition is very good.
