The two volumes are profusely illustrated with over 400 engravings, maps and sketches, many full page. Chapters XXII to XXV are devoted to the history of Cyprus beginning with the Phoenician Colonists and the worship of Astarte and ending with the Treaty of Berlin and the beginning of English rule in 1878.
