Map of Asia Minor with Cyprus. Mild age browning
to some areas, wide margins, otherwise in very fine condition. The
Carpas Peninsula of Cyprus is pointing
westwards.
Size 38 x26.5 cms.
The map is from the 1525 edition of Laurent Fries’
Clavdii Ptolemaei Geographicae. Fries is perhaps best known for his
re-workings of Martin Waldseemuller’s maps of America and the World. His
important folio edition of Ptolemy first appeared in 1522 and contained
both modern and Ptolemaic maps of all parts of the world. Also view (
