This is a 363 pages-22 chapters book with 24 off text full page black and white photos, and a map (route of author). The author gives a beautiful and nostalgic description of his trip with the ship "Principe Farnese" in the 1880s around the Mediterranean sea. A trip that started from Lisbon-Portugal to Spain-Barcelona, to Italy-Sicily, to Greece-Athens, Piraeus, Corinth, Milos and several Greek islands, Smyrna, Chios, Kos, Rhodes, the island of Cyprus, Lebanon-Beirut, Syria, Palestine, Egypt Alexandria, the Pyramids. There is an extensive account of the Eastern Mediterranean regions. A detailed description of the life, the people, the ports, towns, villages, monasteries, important monuments that the author visited in his long trip from one side of the Mediterranean to the other. Beautiful high quality black and white photos in text travel the reader to a late 19th century Mediterranean basin with its surrounding countries. The book is in very good condition. Original brick red gilded hard cover complete with all the photos. An ex Williamsburg Library copy with number pasted on spine and library label pasted on the inside front cover.
