Amsterdam. 1618/19. 47 x 34.3 cms. A beautiful, large hand-coloured copper engraved map of the work "Theatrum geographiae veteris... opera". This map shows the island of Cyprus, Syria, Arabia, Mesopotamia, Babylonia as well as the adjacent areas in Asia. A richly decorated albeit small cartouche and a magnificent sailing ship south of Paphos. The map is in very good condition with wide margins and two minute holes in the center fold have been expertly repaired.
