| 71. Landing place on the west coast, near Baffo. 1878. 45x31 cms. (folding). This engraving illustrates the landing place near Paphos. A British soldier appears to be puzzled by the commercial spirit of the young Cypriot boy who is trying to sell his fruit, while the Scotsman seems to be exhausted by his efforts to get the stubborn donkey to follow him........ At that time, the district of Paphos was known for its anarchy and was considered the centre of crime and brutality. Price: CyP 55.00 |
